The Population and Development Strategies Project (PDS) has launched in May 2007 a project aiming at the Establishment of a National Web-based Databank providing information related to population and development.

The databank will make available publications, data, research findings, activities and news related to population and development produced on the national level by institutions such as Ministries, International Organizations, Non-governmental Organizations, Public Agencies, etc as well as on the community level by Municipalities, Community-based organizations, etc in the past 12 years (since ICPD in 1994). Such info will be made available to a wide audience including media professionals, researchers, students, NGOs, ministries, academia, UN agencies, opinion leaders, decision makers and the general public.
After completing all preparatory phases of the project in August 2007, the PDS project held a consultative meeting on September 11, 2007 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Hamra, to discuss the different phases of the Databank project.
Participants to the meeting included representatives from Ministries, Public and Academic Institutions and Non-Governmental Organizations.
